Description: | Approx. Start Date: Tuesday 4 February 2025 (applicants will receive confirmation of actual start date by text) This course will provide students with a basic introduction to the art of sugarcraft. During this 8 week course, students will learn how to decorate a cake using fondant icing, how to apply marzipan, enhance piping skills, including writing on a cake, learn about the different pastes and their uses, lettering, sugar flowers, and the moulding of basic novelty cakes and decorations. This course is aimed at those wishing to build on basic skills or those wanting to learn the skill from scratch. All course materials must be purchased or provided by the student but the tutor will give you clear guidance on the first evening on what to buy. These include good quality fondant, a cake (or dummy cake), marzipan, balling tools, flower paste, fondant smoothening tool, modelling foam mat, plastic rolling pin and a small paintbrush. All additional cutters etc. will be available in the school, but you are welcome to bring your own along. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to confidently ice a cake to a professional standard, pipe with a high level of precision and definition, create a variety of modelling flowers and much more.
