This 8-week course provides a beginner-friendly introduction to the essential skills of cake decorating and sugarcraft. Throughout the course, students will develop the following skills:

    - how to cover a cake with fondant and marzipan

    - basic piping techniques, including writing on cakes

    - how to create simple sugar flowers and basic moulded decorations

    - an understanding of different pastes and their applications

    - assembling cake designs using multiple techniques

      By the end of the course, students will feel confident in covering cakes with fondant, applying piping techniques, creating simple sugar flowers, and assembling cake designs.

      This course is designed for complete beginners as well as those looking to refine their foundational skills. On the first evening, students will receive advice on essential materials, which include good quality fondant, marzipan, flower paste, a cake (or dummy cake), ball tools, a fondant smoothing tool, a small paintbrush, a plastic rolling pin, and a modelling mat. Participants will get information on the first evening of the course about what tools they will need, what they might already have at home and where they can purchase essential items.
