This course is suited to a wide range of participants. If you have never painted, you will find a supportive teaching environment in which to learn the basics. And yet others who have painted for years are welcome to join the class to benefit from the support of a group and a teacher to reignite their creative practice. You don't have to have display any great artistic ability to join this class, simply an interest in exploring this painting medium in a fun, relaxed and encouraging environment.

Course Content

• Materials: types of brushes, student vs artist quality paints, different painting surfaces and painting mediums
• How to set up your palette
• How to mix paints, basic colour theory
• Understanding shapes, light, perspective
• Composition and the rule of thirds
• How to apply and manipulate paint to suit your style 

This is a step-by-step class taking the student from understanding their materials and how to use them, to producing various styles and themes of oil painting.

The fee listed does not include a list of materials required for class which will be emailed to participants in advance of the start of the course.
