Description:

Tote bags are back in fashion! And with its comeback
supported by Calvin Klein, Chanel and Marc Jacobs they are more fashionable
than ever. In this 1 day workshop, you will learn the process of making a tote
bag and will be given a pattern to take home. You will learn how to cut the
fabric to the correct measurements, quilt it, put the bag together, line it and
add a pocket. It will be finished by adding a carry strap.

By the end of the day you will have made your own bag.

Students must be familiar with using a sewing machine before
taking this class and you are welcome to bring your own machine if you prefer.

To make a quilted Tote Bag, you will need:

Main Fabric: 1 Metre of cotton fabric, this is for

- the outside of the bag

- the bag strap

- the pocket

Lining Fabric: ½ Metre of cotton fabric for the lining

1 Nylon Zip - 9” long (a coordinating colour to the outside
fabric)

1” Webbing: 60” or 1 ½ Metres

Wadding: 32” x 21”

























(NB - if required, wadding can be purchased on the day for
this project €4 per person Appliqué is a very old sewing technique that
involves stitching smaller pieces of fabric onto a larger one to make a pattern
or design. It has been used all over the world with many different names for
thousands of years. This versatile technique can be used in many different ways
such as, adding interest to clothes, quilts, table runners and cushions.
