Course: DFA2598 - Ceramics for Beginners (Wednesday)
Category: Hobby Courses: Art and Craft
Description:

Join Peruvian ceramicist Adriana for a hands on and creative journey into the art of ceramics. This 8 week course, spread across 11 weeks to allow for key stages in the ceramic process, is perfect for beginners or anyone looking to explore their creativity with clay.

You'll learn basic handbuilding techniques such as pinch pots, slab and coil construction, surface decoration, painting, and glazing. Each stage mirrors the traditional flow of working with clay, shaping, drying, firing, glazing, and final firing, giving you a full understanding of the ceramic-making process.

Classes take place on Mondays, beginning 22nd September 2025. Over the first six weeks, you'll build and decorate your pieces. In week 7, your creations will be professionally kiln-fired, with no class that week. You'll return in weeks 8 and 9 to apply glaze and final touches, followed by a second firing in week 10. In week 11, you'll collect your beautifully finished, handmade ceramic work.

With Adriana's expert guidance, you'll add your own personality and style to each piece and by the end of the course, you'll leave with a collection of unique ceramics crafted entirely by you.
