This is a
practical and interactive course, aimed at complete beginners as well as
returning students who want to renew and deepen their Tai Chi practice. Classes
are kept to small numbers so each participant can be given individual attention.
All ages are welcomed. Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese form of meditation through movement.
The relaxed, gentle movements of Tai Chi keep the body aligned and
well-postured. The exercises teach physical balance and co-ordination, and
stimulate breathing, so that the student becomes physically and inwardly
centred.
A typical class involves a brief period of warmup exercises and
stretches. Learning Yang style Tai Chi movement sequences are the main focus of
each session. Simple relaxation techniques that can be built into everyday life
are also taught during the class.
At the end of
these 10 weeks, participants will have a meditative movement exercise/discipline
based on the principles of Tai Chi that can be put into daily practice. |
